Pictures and Objects until 1998

Since the beginning of her creative activities Ute Wennrich has mainly been occupied with the issues of giving an artistic form to spatial structures.
To tackle the difficult problem, she has been exploring two-dimensional planes and three-dimensional situations, apprehending the significance of both in visual arts. As a result we perceive objects that unfold a highly sensual quality, brought about by the use of diverse materials and a clear stylistic vocabulary. The images emerge from a plane surface, acquire space and eventually grow to three-dimensional bodies. These works overstep the boundary lines between flat surfaces and bodily shapes.
